If you do experience some discomfort after your gum lift procedure, it shouldn’t be anything that an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication can’t handle. Aleve (naproxen sodium), or Motrin (ibuprofen) work best in this situation.

Also, rinsing your mouth several times a day with a mixture of warm saltwater will help comfort the area and make it heal faster.

Brushing is also very important. Use an extra-soft bristled toothbrush to gently massage the gums. For the first few days after surgery, you may experience some bleeding, but it will stop soon enough.
